Midway House provides sober living residences in Northern New Jersey for men and women who have completed a treatment program and are ready to take the next step — not back into the chaos of independent life all at once, but into something structured, supported, and designed to protect what treatment built.
Our Locations
We have two residences in Northern New Jersey, both within commuting distance of major employment centers and close to recovery communities, meeting schedules, and the services residents typically need.
Both homes operate under the same standards: licensed by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs as Cooperative Sober Living Residences, with structured house rules, mandatory random drug testing, and on-site oversight.
Morristown, NJ
Located in Morris County, one of Northern New Jersey's most active recovery communities. Morristown offers accessible public transportation, a strong job market, and proximity to treatment providers, outpatient programs, and support meetings throughout the area.

What Life at Midway House Looks Like
Sober living is not a halfway house. It's not a treatment program. It's a home — one that runs on shared commitment to sobriety and structured accountability.
Residents at Midway House follow house rules that are consistent, clearly communicated, and in place for one reason: to protect the environment that makes recovery possible. That includes curfews, household responsibilities, mandatory participation in recovery meetings, and a zero-tolerance sobriety policy enforced through regular drug testing.
Rooms are available in shared or private configurations. In shared rooms, residents are placed with others of the same gender. Common spaces are co-ed. The environment is supportive and community-oriented — which, for most residents, turns out to be one of the more valuable parts of the experience. Being around others who are navigating the same transition matters more than most people expect before they arrive.
Length of stay is flexible. Residents stay month-to-month for as long as sober living is serving their recovery. Some stay a few months. Some stay longer. There's no fixed timeline — only the question of whether the arrangement is working.
Who Sober Living Is For
Sober living works best for people who have completed an inpatient or intensive outpatient program and are not yet ready to return to fully independent living. That's not a judgment — it's a recognition that the transition out of treatment is real, and that having the right environment during that transition changes outcomes.
It's also for people who know themselves well enough to know that willpower alone, without structure and accountability, is not a plan.
