Sober living costs in New Jersey generally range from $150 to $400 per week, but can be more, depending on location, amenities, and the availability and booking of private or shared rooms. At Midway House, our all-inclusive weekly and monthly rates (plus a flat, one-time intake fee) cover rent, utilities, Wi-Fi, laundry, and on-site support. We do not publish rates publicly because they depend on a number of factors including location (we have two), demand, occupancy, type of room, and more - call 973-453-6747 for current pricing.
A halfway house typically refers to court-ordered or state-funded transitional housing for individuals leaving incarceration or mandated treatment. A sober living home is voluntary, privately operated housing for adults in recovery. Residents choose to live there, pay their own rent, and follow house rules but they are not under court supervision. Midway House is a sober living home, not a halfway house.
The longer someone stays in a sober living environment, the better their long-term recovery outcomes. The average stay at Midway House is 7 to 9 months. Some residents stay 3 to 6 months to bridge inpatient treatment to independent life; others stay a year or longer while rebuilding employment, relationships, and financial stability.
